Since the original release on June 29, 2007, the iPhone was arguably one of the best phones on the market selling over 21.4 million iPhones to date. Apple has released the latest of its operating systems (version 3.0) on June 17, 2009, bringing a variety of new (and much needed) upgrades.
Although the list of updates for the new OS is lengthy, and I am certainly one to appreciate updates, I can’t help but feel that the majority of the new features were so greatly needed that I am left saying to myself, “Ahh… finally! So, what’s next? And when?”
Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone. It’s almost to the point where I don’t know how I could survive without it. But with a list of updates containing “features” like cut/copy & paste, landscape keyboard in SMS and mail, and Safari autofill usernames and passwords, I am continually reminded with the thought that these “features” should have been on the phone years ago.
And let’s not forget about MMS and Internet tethering. Oh wait… I have AT&T so I can’t even get those features for another few months. Those who have AT&T service will sympathize with me when I say AT&T’s new ad campaign should be “More Bars in Less Places” with all of the dropped calls I get.
Maybe I’m being too harsh and I need to take a second look at my expectations with technology in today’s world.
What do you think?

I agree with this article although I am not an iPhone user some of the features just coming out are the reason I’m not. I prefer Blackberry because it offers what i need. Hopefully AT&T CAN improve on its services.
Hello Ramiro,
I sure hope AT&T can improve its service reliability and dependability. I can’t tell you how many people I know that have the same connectivity and dropped call issues that I do.
I had looked into Blackberry before I purchased the iPhone but I felt the interface wasn’t quite as user friendly as the iPhone. Before I upgrade to the newest iPhone 3G S, I definitely plan on reviewing what else is new out there.

Now with all the apps that are currently avaialbe for Iphone there is no questions it scores very high on the fun scale!
However, when it comes down to Business very few of us can afford to have all those drop calls and or connectivity issues, Therefore, until Apple gets online with Verizon I am staying with my Blackberry Storm 9530.
Besides, I downloaded a theme called Iberry that makes my Blackberry Storm 9530 look and work identical to an Iphone. (My Wife thought I stoled her Iphone LOL! Best of both Worlds!
I completely agree. The iPhone definitely scores high on the fun scale with the apps!
I looked online for the iBerry Slide theme for the Blackberry Storm 9530 that you mentioned and it does do a great job at resembling the iPhone.
Thanks for the tip on the phone. I’ll definitely need to get my hands on one to test it our first hand!

Tei,
Below is an excellent article about this:
Blackberry users searching for iPhone theme look no further…ever: iBerry Blocks Slide

While Blackberry users and iPhone users have two completely different platforms with generally vastly differing users, there is no arguing that the iPhone has a very nice GUI and the Blackberry a messaging powerhouse under the hood. Many times before we have seen attempts to copy the iPhone’s look and often the attempt comes off pretty well. However, their is a new champion in the building. JC Designs has created hands down the best iPhone theme for the Blackberry Storm and Bold. Now users will truly have the beauty and style of the iPhone and still get to keep the ultra high functionality of the Blackberry.
Cheers!~~~
I just received my new 3GS Iphone on June 19th.
My old one(Just one year old thst costed me $500) is sleeping now. Personally, Iphone is a great marketing, and makes a trend. Blackberry is more stable. However, I support Iphone because it is a local company that is 10 minutes away from my home. Steve Jobs is a hero. I wish I could have a car garage as same as he has had. Iphone is cool.
Tei,
I couldn’t agree more with your opinion of AT&T service.I am VERY frustrated with the service.I could one up you on the AT&T and say -less bars in less places.Their national service map has lots of Open Space in the West. Needing to upgrade my Cingular 8125 which has been reliable, but not fun ,not sure what to get ~ Work or Fun Phone??
Thanks for your feedback, Jerry. I hope you enjoy the new iPhone 3G S.

A good friend once told me that the only true motto in life is “work hard, play hard.”
I have tried to follow that as best as possible and as often as possible. The question is whether or not that pertains to your choice in cell phones. I decided to make the commitment (or sacrifice, whichever way you look at it) and I don’t plan on looking back anytime soon.
I love my iPhone and I hope you take the time to “play” with one first hand.

Tei, I didn’t know that this forum was a place for putting our likes and dislikes about certain products. Thankfully it is a short article and didn’t waste too much of my time. Can you please try to write something that would be more helpful to more people in more places?
Gary,
Although the style of posts and comments may vary per author, we at Realty World Corporate try to provide a wide range of topics and writing styles to be as helpful to as many people as possible.
Not every article is going to appeal to everyone. However, given the vast use of iPhones in the real estate industry and being that the majority of iPhone users will be upgrading their OS, I thought it would be relevant.

Tei,
I appreciate your article, and couldn’t agree more with your views. For me, the constant dropping of calls drives me insane. You would think AT&T and Apple would have figured something out by now to fix this. But then, its only been two years.

What dropped calls? I do not even get calls. In Willow Glen it is a common fact that many people have absolutely NO coverage from AT&T. If I want to answer a call on my iPhone, I have to lean over my kitchen sink and hold it horizontal. Lots of fun – therefore I simply forward my calls to my home phone when I am home and then I get charged for the minutes when a call is forwarded. Complaining to AT&T does absolutely no good in the 3 years I have owned my phone. Overall I love the phone but given the choice to go to another carrier, I AM THERE! Convenient access to my emails when I am out of the office makes it worthwhile and occasionally it will work for phone calls in other places.
Summary – I love my iPhone – Just AT&T could improve their service and customer service.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Dawn.
I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that AT&T can improve on their service… and soon!

After being a verizon customer for over 10 years, I decided to make the leap to AT&T specifically for the iPhone. What a mistake! First as you said their service is terrible…I never had dropped calls with Verizon. And to further the pain, 3 weeks after paying $400.00 for my phone they came out with the new $99.00 version.
Although they promise that things will get better…I am wondering how long I can tolerate the phone service. Talking to clients and dropping service in the middle of a conversation is very exasperating..to say the least!
Tammy,
Thanks for sharing in your similar service stories of AT&T. I am sorry to hear about your situation with the release of the new iPhone 3G S several weeks after your purchase. I am not sure if you had expressed your disappointment with AT&T but you might want to check out the AT&T return policy and speak with a manager at a store.
